About Kristen
Kristen is devoting a second career to her longtime passion and hobby—writing and illustrating children’s stories—after retiring from a 30-year career in elementary education. Having worked as a Principal, Teacher, Professional Development Provider, and Curriculum Consultant, her stories reflect her teaching experience and her love of children.
Kristen’s work draws on her educational background in child development, learning, behavior, and family dynamics. Her experience teaching a broad range of students including general education, gifted, and special education students, also helps her tailor her stories. Kristen uses her books as a channel to advance her previous teaching experience implementing values-based curriculum, as well as her longtime commitment to fostering positive learning experiences that support students through effective social, behavioral, and emotional interventions. Kristen is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and a member of the Cambria Writers Group. |
Children make me laugh! I truly enjoy them—the beauty, magic, and promise in each one. I want to see that promise nurtured, to see them understood and helped to reach their potential. |
